“Oh, I have no intention of returning just yet,” she replied breathlessly.

“Good,” he murmured, capturing her mouth again. “I believe I am in need of payment.”

Perhaps it was the intoxicating effect of his kiss, but Susanna wasn’t sure she had heard him correctly. She blinked at him, eyes heavy and lazy. He was such a handsome man.

“Payment?” she murmured. “For what?”

“Three favors, to be exact,” he replied, pulling her around the sofa and sitting her down.

He sat beside her and captured her mouth with his. The intensity quickly escalated and she matched him as best as she could, drawing on everything she had learned from him. She loved this man—Lord help her—and she wanted to show him how deep her feelings went.

He held up three fingers. “For Miss Barfield, Miss Rosemary, and Miss Annabelle. You owe me, remember?”

Susanna nodded, biting her lip, remembering his words from the other night. “Dare I ask how you expect to be repaid?”

He grinned at her, his eyes dancing with arousal, and he leaned over to kiss her, long and intoxicating. Ian tugged on the top hem of her gown, loosened from his nimble fingers, and her breast spilled out into his hand. His mouth descended onto her nipple, taking her fully into his mouth, his warm hand massaging as he suckled her.

Her breath caught in her throat and she let out a breathless moan. Sensation and fire seemed to race from where he ravished her, down her spine, pooling with rising intensity at her most private spot.

Ian released her breast and kissed his way back to her mouth, over the curve of her breast, along her collarbone, up the sensitive skin of her neck. She tilted her head back, giving him access to the delicate flesh under her jaw before he recaptured her mouth, pummeling her with his tongue. He pulled away, leaving her to catch her breath, her lips wet and raw.

“First,” he whispered, cupping her breast, his thumb lazily rubbing past her nipple. “I am going to touch you, stroke you in a way that will make you cry out.” He kissed her again, running his hand down her gown, tugging the hem up until it collected in her lap. Slowly, palming her pale thighs as he went, his hand deliberately crept up to the apex between her legs, leaving strings of fire in its wake. Just as he had promised, he cupped her soft mound, slipping one finger inside of her, and she gasped.

“Oh, Ian,” she said breathlessly, her eyes popping open in shock and dismay. Was such a thing even done? Apparently it was. He stroked her gently, back and forth, first one finger, then two, her breath catching with each intrusion.

“Secondly,” he whispered, his teeth on the lobe of her ear. “I am going to kiss you, Susanna, and it is going to shock you. But you must trust me, love.”

She nodded numbly. “Is there is a third? I am not sure I can handle much more, Ian. I feel like I am about to burst into flames.
